Science doctor promotion for Dr. Karmen Martinić and Dr. Filip Matković

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, in the ceremonial hall of the SEECEL building of the University of Zagreb, the ceremonial promotion of Doctors of Science and Doctors of Arts was held. During the promotion, the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Prof. Dr. Stjepan Lakušić, promoted 249 new Doctors of Science and Doctors of Arts from the University of Zagreb – 122 doctoral candidates at the ceremony held at 10 am, and 127 at the promotion at 2 pm. Among the newly promoted doctors of science, at the promotion ceremony held at 2 pm, our colleagues Dr. Karmen Martinić, with defended doctoral thesis „Influence of coronal mass ejection orientation on dynamics in interplanetary space“ under supervision of Dr. Bojan Vršnak, and Dr. Filip Matković, with defended doctorial thesis „Observation of the solar atmosphere at mm and sub-mm wavelengths using ALMA“ under supervision of Dr. Roman Brajša, were also promoted to doctors of science in the scientific field of Natural Sciences, the field of Physics (Filip) and Geophysics (Karmen).After the candidates, dressed in ceremonial robes, recited the text of the oath and the rector proclaimed them Doctors of Science and Doctors of Arts, they moved the tassel on their academic caps to the right side, symbolically entering a new and higher academic title. The ceremony was followed by the presentation of diplomas and doctoral medals and the entry of those promoted in the Doctor's Book. The festivities ended with the academic anthem Gaudeamus igitur and a joint photo session.
