JAŠA ČALOGOVIĆ was born in Zagreb, Croatia. He graduated in Environmental Sciences (MSc ETH) at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich) in 2005 with the specialization in the field of Physics and Atmosphere. After graduating, he was employed until 2006 as the research assistant at the Physics Institute, University of Berne researching the effect of cosmic rays on the cloud cover. At the end of 2006 he moves to Zagreb, being engaged on the different education projects at Zagreb Observatory. From the end of 2007 he is employed as the research assistant at Hvar Observatory, Faculty of Geodesy (University of Zagreb, Croatia) on the project “Eruptive processes in the solar atmosphere”. He was active researcher within the EU FP7 projects  SOTERIA, COMESEP, eHEROES, SOLARNET, COST ES1005 (TOSCA) action, HRZZ project SOLSTEL and ESF project PoKRet. He is also a member of the Croatian Astronomical Society and International Astronomical Union (IAU). In 2009 was elected as the national coordinator for the International Year of Astronomy 2009. In 2006 received 2nd prize poster award at “Research at Jungfraujoch – Top of Science” conference (11.‐14.9.2006). The paper: Čalogović at. al. 2010, “Sudden cosmic ray decreases: No change of global cloud cover” was ranked as “the most popular article” of all AGU journals in February 2010 on the AGU website. He was a referee for various journals (e.g. Geophysical Research Letters, Journal of Geophysical ResearchInternational Journal of Climatology). In 2011 he received Editor's Citation for Excellence in Refereeing for Geophysical Research Letters. He received his PhD ("Influence of solar activity on Earth's space environment and climate") in geophysics at Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in 2014.
