Travel
Split on the mainland (served by an international airport) is connected with the island of Hvar by several local lines.
How to get from Split airport (Kaštela) to Split harbor?
Split airport (Kaštel Štafilić) is around 25 km away from Split harbor where the catamaran or ferry to Hvar embark. Usually the trip to Split harbor takes around 30 minutes, but depending on the traffic it can be a little bit more (45 min). The best option is probably direct buses that are leaving directly in front of the airport (Pleso Prijevoz) and their time table is available here. The one-way ticket price is 30 HRK and the trip takes around 30 min. Somewhat cheaper are the local buses No. 37 (Split – Trogir; Trogir – Split) and No. 38 (Split Airport – Kastel Stari – Split; Split – Kastel Stari – Split Airport), but they stop on many places and the trip is longer. Probably the fastest and most flexible option to reach Split harbor is by taxi, but it is considerably more expensive than the bus (200 – 300 HRK).
Transportation timetables (catamarans and ferry) to the island of Hvar for September 2020
Important: The catamaran and ferry timetables for 2020 can be a subject of a change. Thus, we recommend to check the timetables directly at websites of the official transportation companies – Jadrolinija or Krilo Jet.The tickets for catamarans can be bought in the kiosk "Jadrolinija" few meters away from the final bus-stop (see the map of Split harbour or Google maps view of Split harbour). When buying the ferry/catamaran tickets ask where/when you have to embark.
Places on catamarans are limited, however it is possible to buy ticket online in advance (Jadrolinija). Ferry will accept virtually unlimited number of persons. Although the early May is not the high season on Hvar, on certain days catamaran tickets could be sold out, and we recommend to buy online the tickets for catamarans in advance (directly on Jadrolinija or Krilo Jet websites).
